Vitamin A in the form of Retinyl Acetate

I AM Selfcare Vitamin A

Let’s chat! What are we talking about today? Vitamin A in the form of Retinyl Acetate

Claim to fame? Retinyl Acetate and other retinoids are used as antiaging work horses.. Vitamin A is absorbed through the skin and turns up the heat on the rate of skin cell turnover. It also increases collagen production, resulting in ..(drum roll) … a healthier, vibrant, more youthful appearance!

What’s that mean to me? Retinyl Acetate is a high-powered botanical active that will kick some serious butt in taking skincare solutions to the next level. If you’re looking for a product that will give you noticeable results after DAY ONE – this is an essential ingredient that is a MUST for the ingredient list. Uh,  it’s also a MUST to be used in the scientifically proven concentration! Skinny doesn’t like label value ingredients. Read here if you don’t know what I’m talking about: Clinical Studies

How do I know if I need it in my skincare treatments? You need Vitamin A if you’re over 35 because you skin has slowed down in cell turnover and collagen production. Although you may not yet see it, it’s struggling. You need to give a sister a little help..

Gimme the Skinny! Retinyl Acetate is the kinder, gentler, more loving cousin to the  acidic version of Vitamin A, called retinoic acid. Need a refresher on what, exactly, is retinoic acid? Retinoic acid, or Retin-A, is the ‘prescription only’ form of Vitamin A. It’s marketed under the names of Tretinoin and Renova and is prescribed primarily as an acne treatment. But it’s also prescribed as an anti-aging treatment, because,…hey, why not? At $100+ a pop, it’s a lucrative money-maker for the pharmaceutical giants – so they’ll market the heck out of it claiming all kinds of miracles! Well, I’m here to debunk all the marketing B.S. Retinyl Acetate performs just as well, if not better, in its duty as an anti-aging warrior. What it doesn’t do is burn the skin off your face (cough, Retin-A, cough). There’s even one doctor  brand, (think Obagi), that has designed its entire brand around Retin-A with the philosophy that it’s the ‘all that’ active for anti-aging skincare. Well, hate to burst that one-trick pony bubble – but it’s not. Retin-A is good, but it’s not the best. I’ll put my money on the less invasive, nurturing retinyl acetate all day long for battling the war on the signs of aging.

Who can I trust for the most potent formula of this awesome game-changer?

Love note: The great news is that not only does SERENE night repair emollient have retinyl acetate in the most potent strength, but we’ve also added another 30 superstar anti-agers to join the ‘let’s look better’ party.

What other brand probably uses the right concentrations? Um… I’m guessing none .

P.S. I’d also LOVE for you to send me any questions or comments you have on skincare or haircare concerns. Please email me at cathy@iamselfcare.com.

Please check back each week to Get the Skinny!

Thanks so much!
